Day 1: Santa Cruz (Biking)

You will be picked-up at the airport by your private certified guide. Then, you will take the public bus to the Itabaca Channel, which you will cross on a ferry. You will go to a tortoise ranch where you will spot these big reptiles in the wild, and have lunch. Then you will begin a biking tour (mostly downhill, with support vehicle). The whole ride is of about 25km.First stop will be a the trapiche farm where you will learn about a old local process to do local sugarcane juice and alcohol. You will continue to Garrapatero Beach where you will have the opportunity to swim. In the evening, you will be free to wander around Santa Cruz. You can choose among a lot of restaurants close to the pier for dinner. The “Kioskos” in the center of Puerto Ayora are a great option as well: every night the street is closed to traffic and restaurants put tables and chairs on the street where you can enjoy a typical local meal surrounded by locals. We recommend to walk by night at the pier where you can often spot juvenile sharks swimming!

Day 2: Santa Cruz – Isabela (Kayaking and Snorkeling)

You will begin the day with a morning hike to the beautiful Tortuga Bay beach. To get there you need to walk 3km in a forest of giant and endemic cactuses called “Opuntia”. Once arrived at the beach you will be stunned by the white sand, beautiful and long beach with some iguanas soaking at the sun. You will walk until the end of the beach to the locally called “Playa Mansa”. There you will begin a kayak tour through the mangroves. You can often spot juvenile sharks there, so keep your eyes open! The kayak tour also includes a snorkeling session.

The way back to port will be done by boat. Lunch and at 2PM departure by boat to Isabela island. The ride takes approx. 2.5 hours long. At arrival, welcome by our agent and transfer to the hotel. Evening free.

Day 3: Isabela Island (Snorkeling and Stand-Up Paddling)

Today you will go for a boat tour to Cabo Rosa tunnels. This is an amazing snorkeling tour where you can spot reef sharks, rays, turtles, seahorses and a lot of tropical fishes. You will be back in the early afternoon. You will have a bit of free time and at the end of afternoon you will go for a Stand-Up Paddle tour in the bay.

Day 4: Isabela Island – Sierra Negra Volcano (Hiking)

Today you will walk through spectacular lava landscapes and have views of the northern volcanoes of Isabela and Fernandina. The hike to the Sierra Negra Volcano and Volcano Chico is 16 km long (duration approx. 6 hours), but worth every effort. You see the second largest volcanic crater in the world and explore different vegetation zones. You will have lunch in a restaurant in the highlands.

Day 5: Isabela – Santa Cruz

At 5:30 am we will pick you up at your hotel and accompany you to the pier, where you will take the shared speed boat at 6:00 am to Santa Cruz (approx. 2-hour ride). At the harbour our staff will welcomes you and accompany you for breakfast.  Then our driver and take you to the Itabaca Channel, which you will cross on a ferry. For the last part of your trip to the airport you will take the public bus. Your driver will accompany you until the check-in point where your program ends with your return flight to the mainland. Baltra is the only 100% ecological airport in the world!
